About Us

The Bensenville Wood Dale Food Pantry is a federally registered 501(c)3 Not-For-Profit organization affiliation with Northern Illinois Food Bank serving Bensenville, Wood Dale, and Northern Elmhurst.
Established in 1966 the Pantry started with members of the Peace United Church of Christ distributing food from the back of a station wagon to three large families in Bensenville who were in need.
The Bensenville Wood Dale Pantry was originally a collaboration among three local congregations that over time merged into what is today Faith Community United Church of Christ. While one of those congregations, the Peace Church, served as the housing site for the pantry, volunteers from the three churches and wider community were organized to serve and meet community needs.
What began as an ecumenical ministry of these three congregations has grown to be supported by the entire community – local businesses, individuals, grocery stores, corporations, school districts, social and civic organizations.
In order to strengthen community involvement the pantry was incorporated as a Not-For-Profit in 2018 and is governed by a community-wide Board of Directors.
Board of Directors
The organization is managed and governed by a Board of Directors, which is responsible for the management and control of all property and affairs.
